About Lord Krishna Public School

"If a child likes her teacher, the child would, in all probability, be scholarly and studious, who in later years would be successful., observes

Col Yogendra Singh, SM (Retd), Principal.

The only professional to come in regular contact with the children are teachers. And this professional has a profound effect on the child.

If a child likes her teacher, the child would, in all probability, be scholarly and studious, who in later years would be successful. Unfortunately, the corollary is true as well. It’s not to say that the burden of liking the teacher sits with the child. This burden is for the professional to bear.

As Mrs. Mamta Bajaj, our headmistress says, “The profile of teachers involves imparting lessons in their subject to students, later guide and facilitate them to forge their way for next steps in their lives. A good student is a reflection of her teacher, just as an underperforming one is.”

The role of a teacher goes far beyond the classroom and the subject books.— Mrs Mamta Bajaj, Headmistress

A judge-jury-prosecutor-defender who in turn is being judged at all times!

Mrs Mamta Bajaj further elaborates that her role as a strict disciplinarian makes her utter words which very often twirl a situation of complete anarchy, chaos and mayhem into an atmosphere of peace and amity.

Altercations and verbal duels are a common sight among students. A teacher has to take to suo-motocognisance and act as a judge, during which, going by the merit of the issue, they are either defender or prosecutor. At such times, their words become no lesser than the law.

The biggest difference being, the students are forever judging the judge too. And if the teacher has played fairly, consistently and without bias, she earns the respect of her students. The students start liking her triggering the cycle which makes a student studious. Again, corollary is true as well.

It is terrifying to act as a judge, but as teacher, I am compelled to take charge. I can only ignore or pass a poor considered judgement at my own peril!- Mrs Kiran Bala, Coordinator

  A counsellor-psychologist-advisor-mentor.

“Studentshave beautiful souls, but unfortunately some are desolate, and it becomes our responsibility to be their support during these moments of weakness. I have to be a counsellor, I have to innovate and come up a pep talk near-instantaneously that my students desperately require when they see only dark clouds.”, says Mrs Anju Joshi, Activity In-Charge.

“Sometimes I have to act as the PRO to the parents of my students. This I do to give an authentic and appropriate feedback about their wards. After all, teachers and parents are undoubtedly partners in the progress of a child.”, adds Mrs Antima Yadav, Senior Teacher.

These sentiments are being echoed by all the teachers and I feel by successive generations of educators too!

My confidence gets bolstered when any of my students pay heed to my motivating and encouraging words and emerge triumphant in the endeavours they venture into. - Mrs Kiran Dabral.

A confidante-companion-comrade-colleague.

To become their confidante and make them develop a sense of keen interest in her subject, a teacherhas to laugh with her students, pat them for their good deeds and achievements, boost their morale with cheering and inspiring words. A good teacher makesher classroom teaching interesting, effective and enriching by citing interesting instances and anecdotes from her own experiences.

A teacher talks to them about the latest releases in town from Bollywood and Hollywood, the rating and criticism of those, about their role models and gym sessions, news about opening of new food outlets in town, the latest electronic gadgets, their dreams and aspirations and what not.

There are times when I also share my dreams and thoughts and to some extent, my life with my students. At such times, the generation gap between me and my students feels like narrowing down and eventually we end up discovering that we share a lot of common interests, such as the latest releases in town, listening to the popular chartbusters, sharing interesting jokes and anecdotes, getting to know about their posts on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp etc – Mrs Suman Bhati, Coordinator.

  A two-way street.

Having played all the possible rolesgives the teacher an immensely gratifying feeling when some of her students end up reciprocating the industrious efforts put in for their welfare. The association with students no longer remains one-sided because a teachergets back as much as she invests. Sometimes students put in their heart and soul into a task assigned to them, just not to let the teacher down. At other times, a warm greeting with a cherubic smile of a student, helps to lift up spirit and see the sunnier side of life.

Playing the multifarious roles, each day, a teacher becomes mentally and physically drained, but nonetheless, playing these roles extends the opportunity to discover the inherent potential of her students. In the process of playing multiple roles, a teacher becomes a jack of all trades and master of some. At the end of the day, she feels enriched that in the capacity of a teacher, shegot an exposure to several kinds of roles in life, sans having to be a theatre artiste!
